A four day art retreat by the sea in Cintsa East. Loose, vibrant florals in acrylic — painted your way.
Your Teacher
Juliet Greig is from East London, known for her landscapes and flower paintings.
I am a contemporary artist based in East London. I am self-taught and come from a line of artists from my Mother’s side of the family. I have been painting since 1994. I am in the process of being signed up as one of the artists featured in the Ruthanne Collection. My subject matter is florals, seascapes and landscapes, and my paintings are characterised by vibrant colour, rich texture and very loose and expressive brushstrokes.
I have been painting professionally since 1994 and have been teaching adults since 2007. Classes are in oils and acrylics, with the occasional dash of charcoal. I draw my inspiration from my rural upbringing and my paintings are imaginative and intuitive rather than strictly realistic.
The Class
We will start with a basic, loose floral drawing, drawn in pencil crayon.
I will start the painting session off by drawing on my own canvas. I will demonstrate each step of the painting until the artists feel that they wish to add their own ideas, or their own personal style, to the painting.
I will offer guidance every step of the way, either verbally or by demonstrating brushstrokes, paint colours etc. We will be painting in acrylics as they are practical due to their fast drying time.
I understand that some artists will be more advanced than others, or that there might be beginners. This will be taken into consideration during the workshop.
I hope that each and every artist will go home with a beautiful floral painting that he or she has painted in a loose style, with lots of beautiful colours.
